We saw a strong week of activity across the London portals we automate. Ealing, Westminster and Lewisham led the charge, with over 80% of new applications receiving a decision by week's end.

Astor recorded 1,761 new planning applications across 33 councils this week — 16 of them London boroughs, the rest authorities outside London — with Ealing leading at 278. (Corrected 11 August 2026: this was published as 33 London boroughs. It sat exactly at the number of boroughs London has, so no impossibility check could catch it.) Of 295 decisions, 237 were approved. Notable activity included section 73 variations and residential conversions in Ealing, Croydon and Lambeth, alongside long-tail condition submissions on major sites.
We recorded 1,761 new applications across 33 boroughs. Of 295 decided this week, 237 were approved and 42 refused; 16 were withdrawn. Ealing dominated with 278 new submissions, followed by Westminster (169) and Lewisham (148). In our records, approval rate held steady at roughly 80%.

Barnet's RAF East Camp site saw a contamination remediation submission for a condition tied to a 2005 outline permission. Lambeth's Ashmole Housing Estate redevelopment moved to drainage details approval. Two residential conversions—Croydon's change of use to two units (ref. 26/01395/CONR) and Lambeth's site split—suggest sustained HMO and small-unit demand in outer and central boroughs.
